The suspects have been identified as Bernard Okuyo, the project's structural engineer, Yusuf Kakeeto, the director at Ghaspa Construction Company Limited and Ismail Luke, the project coordinator, who were the contractors on the building.
3 officials arrested for faulty construction in Kisenyi that killed 1 person

The three are facing charges of negligence and non-compliance to lawful orders as required under the building regulations.
According to the Communications Manager at NBRB, Herbert Zziwa, during police investigations into the incident, it was discovered that engineers at the site did not follow the orders that were issued by the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) engineering department as per the law.
The orders were for the construction to be halted with instructions on how to proceed within regulations.
It was noted that the contractors failed to follow the right procedure under the KCCA Building Control Act, 2013. They did not abide by the proper site unearthing and safety management plan that the Act imposes on all construction activity around the city.
“Preliminary investigations have established that on March 15 2022, under section 40 of the Building Control Act, 2013, the KCCA building committee issued an order stopping the building operations and further guided the developer to undertake remedial measures but nothing was done,” Zziwa said.
The suspects are being detained at Old Kampala Police Station waiting to be arraigned in court.
