Why you never get a second date

If you are into serial dating, you should have already been in that position where you never heard from the person after the first outing.

If you are lucky, or unlucky, depending on how you look at it, the person told you, "let's just be friends."

If you are wondering about the unlucky bit of that statement, when you are friend-zoned, you are never sure whether you will escape it.

During one of the recent episodes of SheTalk on Sanyuka TV, hosts Diane Nabimanya, Sandra Lian and Mildred Tracy were joined by actor, radio host and comedian, Patriko Mujuuka, to discuss some of the things that ruin dates.

Blature Diamondz, who also goes by Martha Khlaire, and works with Next Media, also contributed to the conversation.

One of Mujuuka's biggest pet peeves is women who talk a lot during dates.

Mujuuka: "When we've taken you on a date, stop talking a lot. There are girls who don't even give you a chance to talk. She is the one saying everything... You are showing that you know everything. You know every city..."

Nabimanya: "But you like smart women?"

Mujuuka: "You know every hotel, you know every hangout!"

Tracy: "What's the problem with that?"

Mujuuka: "I'll start doubting you, thinking you are a party girl."

Diamondz: "When we show that we are not party girls, you say we are very dull. We aren't sharp like other girls."

Mujuuka: "No, no, on the first date,... don't say too much."

Mujuuka also doesn't like the idea of a woman accepting to go out with a guy she knows has no chance at all.

Mujuuka: "Dates are meant to spark romance, so if you don't like me, what are you looking for?..."

Diamondz: "Not every date is about romance."

Mujuuka: "No... Please let's be realistic, you know I'm going out with someone with romantic interests in me, why are you eating my food? That's why men bewitch you... People curse you."

People who share too much too fast can also ruin the first date experience.

Mujuuka: "Don't rush to tell me your problems. Some people will tell you their problems and even start talking about family issues."

Diamondz said girls should drop the habit of taking photos, especially if they are not ponying up.

"Girls, you are so undisciplined. Why do you have to first record your food?... Someone has brought you out with their own money," she said.

Mujuuka chimed in: "Some of us grew up in town. Others grew up in villages and they are poorly cultured."

Mujuuka said it's good to be familiar with the setting and pricing of the place you are going to, to avoid getting embarrassed. Tracy believes sometimes a woman should also foot the bill. Lian thinks don't go deep into the romantic talk before even buying the girl you are interested in, at least, a glass of wine.
