Women today yearn for traditional men but don't want to be traditional women - Onen

Just because you carry a vagina doesn't mean that I will treat you any better, any more politely neither will I be more sensitive to your needs... I will treat you as though you are a dude.

Popular radio personality and founder of RX radio, James Onen, has slammed the modern women for wanting traditional men without wanting to become traditional women, implying that you can't have it both ways.

Onen, who has positioned himself over his long radio career as an expert on the complex issue of gender relations made these comments while appearing on the Pulse Uganda Twitter Spaces titled "Men Too, Guilty till proven Innocent" that took place on Thursday evening June 23, adding that he was in full support of women emancipation but that he would expect them to deal with the full consequences of what that entails.

"I am the truest kind of feminist because I will treat a woman as an equal. I will treat her as though she was a man, meaning I will not be favorable towards her just because she's a woman. I will gauge the merits of her argument based on it's own merits not because she is a woman.

He then added, bemusedly that no feminist wants that.

"Most feminists want you to say, 'hey, you are a woman therefore I should treat you with special consideration, I should be more considerate of your views... of your complaints'. I would never treat a fellow man like that. And yet, if I am supposed to treat a woman as my equal, that is how I should treat her. As an equal. Nothing special.

"If you are a feminist, raise your hand if you feel comfortable with the idea of being treated exactly like a man," he asked rhetorically.

"Not just in the privileges but also in terms of the responsibilities of being equal to a man."

Onen was responding to Jeniffer Mudondo, another panelist on the same Spaces, who was of the view that there needs to rise up the kind of men that are masculine enough to deal with the emancipated women of today.

But Onen seemed to indicate that you can't refuse to be a traditional woman (submissive and vulnerable enough for a man to look after you) and insist on having a traditional man (the truly masculine, chivalrous man that takes the lead and cares for the family).

Onen added that today's man is enjoying more sex with more sexually liberated women, without spending as much as the men of old, adding that this has created unhappy angry women, while resultantly creating happy men that don't have as many responsibilities... that don't have to marry the emancipated women.
