How to be Richard Tuwangye in 4 easy steps

Richard Tuwangye is one of the most likeable people you can currently meet on Kampala’s social scene. The stage actor and comedian who has made his name over the last ten years as the most seminal member of the comedy outfit Theatre Factory, is as witty as he’s versatile.

Richard Tuwangye

Tuwangye seems to succeed at anything and everything he puts his mind probably because he’s so humble.

He’s an unforgettable stage actor who turns the most mundane skits into gold, he has made a name as a television actor, being one of the original cast in “Hostel”, he’s made it to the top MCs in town over the last few years and is now popular on social media because of his braggadocio telephone conversations with his village cousin, Amosi, in which he pokes fun at the arrogant arrivalist behavior that is synonymous with some Banyankole men. And by the way, that is the longest sentence I have ever written.

This little hank of a man is making Banyankole men look classy for the first time since 1986. And here are four easy steps to be Richard Tuwangye

1. Be short

Sorry if you are tall because to be Tuwangye, you have to be brief. You only have to look at the funniest, most successful comedians in history to realize you are doomed if you are tall. The list is really long. Charlie Chaplin, short. Mr. Bean, short. Chris Rock of the slap fame, short. Iheme and Ikedieze, short. Kevin Hart, extremely short. And have you seen Anne Kansiime? So, be short to start with.

2. Be very funny

Tuwangye is a born-comedian. He’s funny on stage and offstage. This guy can turn around the lousiest wedding with his hilarious take on life. So yeah, get busy and learn how to tell some jokes.

3. Dress to kill

Dress well, bro, if you want to be Tuwangye. He has a knack for what makes him look even more handsome than he really is. From what is trending to the classic designs, this guy’s designer should be hunted down.

4. Be versatile

Like I said before, Tuwangye is a stage actor, a television actor, an MC and I think he’s trying to become an influencer with those Amosi telephone calls. Have you realized how many Ugandan accents he pulls off while on stage? Oh, and now he's on Next Radio as a morning show host. I bet you didn’t know that. Someone said he will kick some ass there too.

So yeah, good luck trying to be all.
