I stopped breastfeeding Navio after mum said I overdid it - Maggie Kigozi

Dr. Maggie Kigozi says she weaned popular hiphop artiste, Navio, her son, after her mother complained that she was overdoing it. She said this while appearing on Pulse Uganda Twitter Spaces on Thursday evening April 12, where different ladies were discussing issues about motherhood. Click link below to listen.

"One day my mother heard little Navio thank me after breastfeeding him and she told me it was time to get the boy off the breast. That same day is the day I weaned Navio," she said, prompting other speakers and the host, Sandra Aguti, to laugh.

At least we now know where Navio gets his great looks. He breastfed until he was old enough to come up with a hook for one of his rap songs.

Maggie Kigozi also said that she was disappointed to see Navio gravitate towards a music career because she had hoped for her son to get a regular career, adding that she essentially forced him to get a degree in a bid to sway his mind away from the music industry. She added that while the degree is seated in her cupboard somewhere, she is proud that he got it because it will probably come in handy one day.

Navio listened to a lot of music while growing up, including his elder brother's huge collection of rap music from artists such as Run-D.M.C, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice and others and would try to mimic them.

When he was about 10 years old, his mother heard him rapping in the living room, and came over and asked whether it was Vanilla Ice rapping. She was so excited that she took him to Baava studio, owned by Hope Mukasa, to record a song.

Clearly, Dr Maggie wasn't too disappointed that Navio took the music route career-wise.
