Good to say that it is quite encouraging to see trimmed and pruned humans walking our streets, doing everything to reduce the pressure of day to day living. For those still in the chipped nail polish club, fear not, you will overcome one day.

Now, let us address the issue of untamed toe nails. Yes, the public rarely ventures that far when staring at you, but when we shave it is not because we are going to walk around naked now, is it? It is just personal hygiene and also peace of mind.

Generally, just because we don’t see doesn’t mean you should walk around with those pangas of toenails.

When your talons cut through your flat shoes and socks and you have to remove your shoes in public, you might as well be wearing your foot on your forehead.

When people see them, they are likely not to be kind and will judge you harshly, with giggles, pointing fingers and loud whispers.

If that does not move you, then at least have mercy on your feet. They too deserve pampering every so often because they carry your body weight daily. If you had to support your weight, we doubt you would be as accommodating as they are. They run, they do all the harsh work. So, is a pedicure fortnightly too much to ask?

If that won't appeal to you, then think of your bed sheets and the mosquito net which constantly get caught in the rough cracks on your heels and get ripped. It doesn't make financial sense to spend your entire life buying new beddings. There is a lot more to life than that, surely.

To make matters worse, you want to wear every beautiful open shoe and peep toes because you don't want to let a trend go by. So the poor feet develop cones because you mercilessly squeeze your not so small foot in tiny shoes, sometimes even borrowed. It only follows that if you have damaged and mistreated them, you would then take care of them till they heal.

If you want to take them digging, please go ahead. They are your feet after all, but at least scrub the cracks off. Okay buy gumboots and wear them lined with soft woolen nice socks.

Okay if that is too tough, buy sneakers to shield them.
