The promoter refused to pay me - Oxlade on why he didn’t perform at Lugogo

Nigerian singer Oxlade said he didn't perform at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Friday evening because the promoter of The Big Show refused to meet contract obligations.

Oxlade, who promised to perform for Ugandans any time soon, slammed Top Boy Entertainment, the events company that had hired him to perform in Uganda.

"Promoters need to learn to do the right thing when booking artists. You invite an artist to come to perform at your event, you were given a booking agreement which you duly signed. Then you refused to honor your own part of the contract and refuse to pay me as at when due," he said in a statement issued Saturday afternoon.

"Michael of Top Boy Entertainment UG you owe Ugandan people an explanation as to why I did not perform last night! I would love to go into details of what happened."

According to the Ku Lo Sa singer, the promoter also canceled his return flight.

"Even after you knowingly canceled my return flight back to Nigeria. And to my Ugandan family, I definitely hope to give you guys a show soon!" he said in the statement shared on his social media channels.

Oxlade was among the performers at last night's show at Lugogo Cricket Oval. Other performers included Beenie Man, Vinka, Winnie Nwagi, Azawi, Grenade and Zex Bilangilangi.

The concert will go down among the least attended concerts this year and also among the worst in terms of meeting revelers’ expectations.

According to information shared by people who attended the show, singers were given very few minutes to perform and the show started late. Then Beenie Man, who was the main act, reached a point and asked to be given time to rest.
