As one year ends and another one begins, Ugandan rapper and storyteller St. Nelly-Sade wraps up the past year with a song titled “Rap Up”.

St. Nelly-Sade, real name Nsubuga, has officially dropped his annual song today rapping in different styles combining a number of trends, jargons, and newsworthy events that happened in the previous year (2021).

He’s past annual “Rap Up” songs have tended to always have a good lyrical touch, together with the mastered beats that fuse so well in his luga-flow rhyming style. The “Rap Up” is always anticipated by his followers and fans because of its rhyming series of events that follow each other lyrically, and on beat.

Released on January, 3rd 2022, the “Rap Up 2021” the audio was produced by Yung Jey Basalesale. The first 20 seconds of the introduction of the song start with the comic events that have happened the previous year.

St Nelly Sade shifts through the January presidential elections tension to rhyme about Bobi Wine’s bulletproof car, the bomb attacks, Bishop Stanley Ntagali saga, the Gulu retreat, OS Suna saga and the Janzi Awards.

St Nelly Sade sings a genre known as Luga flow, a lyrical heavy genre combined with rhythmic beats. This genre started way back in the 2000's and has now become one of the most popular genres of music amongst Uganda hip-hop makers and fans, especially the youth.

There are thousands of rappers from all around the country putting out this kind of music. However, it’s only a select few that have come out in records to make top hits out of it.

However, we have hip-hop artists all around the country that continue releasing songs on top of the others that have been well received and consumed by their fans.
