"When one is lost of words, one sings. When mankind becomes so unkind, we naturally turn to the almighty for divine guidance. One, however wonders where to turn when prayers take rather too long to be answered. #Tujune #FreeAllPoliticalPrisoners," he said in the announcement.
Song review: Bobi Wine turns to God for guidance in 'Tujune'
Less than a day after announcing his latest single, Ugandan musician turned political leader Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine releases 'Tujune' loosely translated as 'favour us'.
"You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come,” Christ says in John Chapter 7 verse 34, however, the singer blows past Christ to the Old Testament God and does his best to approach his maker clad in a white ensemble.
According to an old saying iron sharpens iron, but his conflicts have only sharpened his frustration and in the lyrics, he calls upon God asking him to use 'them' like He did with His servants back then.
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart," Jeremiah Chapter 29, verse 13 says, and the holy book tops it off with Luke Chapter 17, verse 20-21 "The kingdom of God will not come with observable signs. Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst,"
Where the stewards of Justice in his society seem to have failed him and his fellow men, he asks why the bad are enjoying triumph over the good as the ultimate Jury watches on.
Unfortunately, it appears the holy book directs him back to his environment and within himself, and perhaps the song is a cry for the 'kingdom of God' within his oppressors, too.
On June 10 2022, Bobi Wine paid a visit to Kitalya prison to check on over 30 of his friends and supporters who are facing charges of terrorism.
