Musicians must pay for using my studio and equipment - Eddy Yawe
Musician Eddy Yawe says that every musician he works with must pay to work with him as he brings his unique sound to the song and thus benefits the musician he is collaborating with.
"I am paid for collaborations. The musician must pay for using my studio and equipment and also, finance the video as well. I even sell songs to them because most musicians can't write," he said.
Eddy Yawe has worked with Carol Nantongo and Martha Mukisa under the same terms.
He is currently in the studio with Betina Namukasa and has said he will soon be working with Nina Roz.
Recently, Yawe has come in for a great deal of criticism regarding how he took the sole rights for the song, “Neteze”.
Disagreements over Neteze
It has been reported that Mukisa and Yawe were fighting over the ownership rights to the song "Neteze", which was performed by both musicians.
Although the song is performing well on every countdown show, it was recently deleted from Mukisa’s YouTube channel.
Yawe reportedly submitted a takedown request to YouTube copyright which was accepted and the song deleted after a full investigation into the matter.
The song now only remains available on Yawe's YouTube channel.
Yawe has a history of falling out with collaborators over song rights, he previously fell out with Carol Nantongo over the ownership of the "Tukiggale" song. Much like Mukisa, Nantongo also lost all song ownership rights to Yawe.
Mukisa’s team was said to be in talks with Yawe to reach some accommodation from the latter. However, it was concluded by both parties that the all the rights to the song will go directly to Yawe.
