Introducing the three unsung heroes of Uganda's music industry

Uganda has vocalists, excellent vocalists and then there are three vocalists who defy classification because they are simply out of this world.

Possibly three of Uganda's top vocalists

We shall introduce to you three special talents whose preternatural voices are on a par with the very best in the world.

She is certainly one of the best Afro-soul saxophonists in Uganda, but that’s not all. The lady is also a pianist. However, her most enduring instrument is that voice of hers.

MoRoots sings like she is summoning the Heavens.

Her rich, versatile voice extends her register to as many octaves as she wants to reach. Indeed, her vocal range reveals a soul which is not only at the root of her soaring vocals, but is also the very epitome of emotional immediacy.

He is one of the most gifted vocalists and songwriters on Kampala’s performance arts scene. The emotional intensity of his vocals share an emotional experience with his listeners to the extent that singer and audience become one.

Ssensamba’s smoldering sound is able to turn night to day in ways that defy any weather report. Since the man simply reigns, no matter the weather.

Ssensamba also remains one of Uganda’s most socially conscious musicians, his lyrics suited to expressing and explaining the times we live in with a Straight-to-Number-One singularity.

If you hear this guy’s voice touch any ballad, you will appreciate its soulful and riveting power. His sound reminds one of the 1990s when a musical trend called New Jack Swing took hold of the music industry.

It was a combination of the silken vocals of R&B mixed in with smooth synthesisers and the very soul of Hip Hop.

Although retro, Kisakye’s sound is futuristic in the sense that his balmy vocals are the very future of Uganda’s music scene. Just wait and see.
