Abantu Baganye - Ronald Mayinja abandons the government gospel

Former Eagles production band and Golden band singer Ronald Mayinga has released audio of his latest song titled “Abantu Baganye”.

Ronald Mayinja

There’s no hiding behind metaphors or beating around the bush about his report from the masses about President Museveni.

The singer seems to have an unsettled conscience with where his allegiance lies. Last year, the musician recorded a song in support of the NRM flag bearer for the presidential seat. The song titled “Akalulu Kako Muzeeyi” was a hit with the NRM camp and he was one of the artists to entertain the NRM supporters in the 2021 elections.

This is the second track attacking the regime after “Bizeemu, although this one is more direct in its report-like structure.

According to Mayinja, nothing can revive the NRM glory that it once enjoyed in the face of the public. He says that after travelling all round the country, he has not found any material or experience that can be used to consolidate the government’s image.

I used to be a good supporter, and have been travelling around to preach your message but the people have refused, to be certain they have refused they also hated me for it. I ask you mzee to find ways to leaving power because they have said they want another leader,” Mayinja sang.

Mayinja reports in his song that the people are fed up with hospitals without medicine, roads that belong to a few individuals, the abject poverty that has forced others abroad for survival.

In strange coincidence, the song comes a few hours after Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba hints at eyeing the “seat”. The General took to twitter and made an open statement asking the public to show their support for his interest in the 2026 elections.

The General also tweeted on Sunday saying “I consider President Museveni and President Paul Kagame the best strategists that ever lived. When team MK wins power in this country which we will, our first act will be to increase the sports budget.

The recent tweet and a string of related tweets have been interpreted as a strong indication of the Commander’s ambition.

Interesting developments coming out of the NRM camp and the regime’s font.
