However, the official red-carpet pre-show starts 90 minutes beforehand at 6:30 p.m. This is the part where attendees will show up in the best attire and will be asked, “who are you wearing?”
Then they may reply, “Coco Channel, not from Kampala Road though.”
Speaking of location, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), which is ceremony’s name in full, will be held at the Dolby Theatre, located in Los Angeles, United States.
We emphasise “United States” because there is a Dolby Theatre in Kamwokya, Kampala.
What is about?

How do you get nominated for an Oscar?
There are two ways. One, in your dreams. Two, in reality as this Academy Award of Merit, nicknamed the Oscar award, is a golden statuette recognises and rewards high achievement in different categories regarding film. These categories include acting, directing, editing, score (soundtrack), and costume design, among others.

Carter, Kevin Costner, Anthony Hopkins, Lily James, Daniel Kaluuya (our Musoga), Zoë Kravitz, Mila Kunis, Lady Gaga, John Leguizamo, Simu Liu, Rami Malek, Lupita Nyong’o (Karibu sana), Rosie Perez, Chris Rock, Naomi Scott, Wesley Snipes, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, Yuh-Jung Young
The hosts
The Oscars haven’t had one MC ever since Kevin Hart fell, um, short.
“This year’s show is all about uniting movie lovers. It’s apropos that we’ve lined up three of the most dynamic, hilarious women with very different comedic styles. Expect the unexpected!” says the show’s producer Will Packer. Academy President David Rubin and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson adds, “Hosting this star-studded party are 3 powerful, funny women inviting us to laugh and cheer for the year’s best and brightest in film.”
The “3 powerful, funny women” for this year’s ceremony are actresses Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes.
Hall is a solid comic actress, while Schumer and Sykes are stand-up comedians in addition to being actresses. This is the first time in the history of Oscars that three women are hosting the show.
Let’s look at the strengths of all three:
Wanda Sykes
Her funny: Sykes started doing standup in1987, a year after president Museveni came to power, and rose to fame after winning an Emmy for her work writing on The Chris Rock Show in 1999.
Her CV: In her Netflix sitcom The Upshaws; playing groundbreaking standup Moms Mabley in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel; stealing scenes from Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Amy Schumer
Her funny: Schumer was first a standup queen before doing her own TV show, Inside Amy Schumer, which ran from 2013 to 2016.
Her CV: 2015’s Trainwreck and 2018’s I Feel Pretty. Schumer can currently be seen in Hulu’s Life & Beth, which she wrote and directed.
Regina Hall
Her funny: You’ve seen her in “Think Like a Man” and “Think Like a Man Too”, 1999’s The Best Man and 2000’s Love & Basketball, as well as a recurring role in the Scary Movie franchise.
Her CV: She will probably the most exciting host.
Our prediction for best actor:
Morally, we hope Will Smith can will for his role as Venus and Serena’s father in the movie “King Richard”, a 2021 American biographical sports drama film directed by Reinaldo Marcus. However, Benedict Cumberbatch will win it for “The Power of the Dog”, a 2021 Western psychological drama film written and directed by Jane Campion.
And best actress?
We predict that Aunjanue Ellis will win Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Oracene Price, mother of Venus and Serena Williams in the film “King Richard.” That will be the Academy Awards compensation for Will Smith losing to Benedict Cumberbatch. Jessica Chastain will win Best Actress for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
