The premiere received a warm welcome among the 800,000 revelers, some of who approached Isaac Nabwana, Wakaliwood boss, with invitations to their countries to showcase his work.
From the makers of 'Who Killed Captain Alex?' comes 'Football Kommando'
Ugandan film house Ramon Films Productions, popularly known as Wakaliwood, premiered their latest production titled "Football Kommando" during the 15th edition of Documenta 15 Festival in Kassel Germany.
“It was joy and happiness this side. Our premiere was a success because very many people came through to watch our movies," said Nabwana
The movie house also took the opportunity to screen their other productions including the famous "Who Killed Captain Alex?", "Once Upon A Time In Uganda", "Bad Black" among others.
"Many people asked me to direct them to the site where they would stream our movies. Others were surprised by our work and many of them have invited me to their countries to go and showcase my work after this festival,” Nabwana revealed.
Nabwana is still in Germany on an extended stay of 3 months to continue screening his movies and to teach the audience how they can make low-budget movies. "Who Killed Captain Alex?" was shot in 2010 for $200, about 750,000 Shillings today, and it is the most trending Ugandan movie outside the country's borders to date.
The filmmaker was joined by his manager, Ronald Kazibwe, Apollo Asiimwe and 14-year-old visual artist Isaac Newton Kizito to represent Uganda at the festival. Kizito was behind the design of Entebbe Airport and a Bombardier for the movie.
"Football Kommando" is a story about the experiences of a German family in Uganda.
