Joan won the award for her performance as a character called Mina featured in a movie titled Stain.
“I attribute all this success to God. The movie 'Stain' has turned me into one of the biggest actresses in Africa because of its marriage. Special thanks to my teams and viewers of the movie,” Joan told the media.
After scooping this award, Joan says her focus and goal is now reaching the Oscars where she will be lifting the Ugandan flag high in the movie industry.
“Having reached this continental milestone, I am looking at growing myself bigger to greater heights in the movie industry and don’t be shocked when next thing you see me on are the Oscars,” she added.
Talking to the movie director Morris Mugisha, he says this is just the beginning and more is yet to come for Ugandans as long as they continue being supportive of the film industry.
Morris says for the Ugandan film industry to prosper and conquer the world, there has to be massive support from Ugandans.
“I am achieving all this because of God and I promise I will be releasing a number of movies that will surprise Ugandans. I call upon Ugandans to support and trust us because we have now mastered the art and technology of putting out the best movie content and if this trust and support comes in, we will hit the global market,” Morris Mugisha said.
The movie Stain managed to scoop 12 nominations and managed to win five at the Uganda Film festival [UFF] Awards. At the Africa Movie Academy Awards, the movie got seven nominations and managed to win one.
