The gala for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) went down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 15, 2022, with legendary American producer and musician Diddy as the host.

American singer, songwriter and actress Olivia Rodrigo, rapper Kanye 'Ye' West and RnB singer Doja Cat were among the biggest winners on the night.
Rodrigo took home a total of seven awards, while Kanye ‘Ye’ West won six awards followed closely by Dojat who had four.

Drake won the award for the top rap album ‘Certified Lover Boy’ and top rap artiste, the Icon Award went to Mary J Blinge and it was presented to her by the legendary Janet Jackson.
The 2022, awards honoured the year’s most successful artists in 62 categories across all genres of music.
The finalist and winners of the coveted awards, are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, streaming, radio airplay and touring.
Since, 1940, the Billboard Charts have been the go-to guide for the ranking of the popularity of artistes, songs and albums and are the ultimate measure of success in music.
During the awards gala, Nigerian singer and songwriter Burna Boy was among stars who performed. Other entertainers were; Travis Scott, Latto, Megan the Stallion, Rauw Alejandro, Becky G, Red Hot Chili Peppers among others.
