Prince Andrew deactivates social media accounts

Prince Andrew, who is Queen Elizabeth II’s second son, has deactivated his social media accounts and, according to reports, he is facing a sexual assault case.

When you try to access his official twitter account @TheDukeOfYork, it opens with a message that says “This account doesn’t exist”.

His other channel which happens to be YouTube displays a monkey picture. His Instagram is active, though in private mode as well as his Facebook.

An announcement was also made last week that the prince had stopped using “His Royal Highness,” title, and also surrendered his honorary military titles given by the Queen.

Prince Andrew is accused by Victoria Giuffre of sex assault after having an intimate affair with her while she was aged 17. Victoria says she met him through the late US financier Jeffrey Epstein.

A source close to the prince said the social media accounts have been deleted permanently.

Andrew withdrew from public life as a royal in 2019 and has always been spotted driving or riding around the Queen’s private estate. He was also absent for his daughter Beatrice’s wedding in 2020.
