"They called him and he came to the hospital. Instead of bringing me diapers and everything to help with the baby, he carried four cans of Castle Lager... I had told his friend that I'm pregnant, and he denied it. 'She was at Makerere University, so she must have been having other men'," said Makula in a video seen by this reporter.
Makula said that at that time they had broken up.
"We broke up. After separating, I fell sick when I was about four months pregnant. I got malaria and I was at mom's place and I blacked out. She also didn't know that I have malaria," Makula said.
"They rushed me to the hospital. I will never forget the doctor. He told my mother that she is going to become a grandmother. My mother was shocked and she fainted. She couldn't believe it."
Makula went on: "What helped me, my father had just passed on and I didn't have a strong bond with my mother... She later asked me, when did you become pregnant? Why didn't you tell me? I was crying but I wasn't touched."
She continued: "I was also heartbroken and couldn't tell her. And she asked me, who is the dad? I told her I won't tell you... They came to learn about the father after giving birth... the baby looked like him and my sisters were suspicious even before I gave birth."
Makula gave birth to a boy when she was still a student at Makerere University and dropped out of school.
