The 'Agassi' hit singer said that Cindy has her support in every other way apart from her vote. She inculpates this on the disappointment she endured throughout her childhood.
I'm not voting for Cindy - Jackie Chandiru
Jackie Chandiru revealed that she is not interested in partaking in the looming musicians elections. Although her former music band partner, Cindy Sanyu, is running for the presidential seat Jackie says she is not voting.
“In school, there is someone I supported but when she became class monitor, she started bullying me. I don’t like to vote because people do the opposite of what they are expected of,” she says.
Despite this, Chandiru endorses Cindy as leader of the association asseverating that she depicts qualities of a capable president.
The impending elections are happening towards the end of the month and the candidates are carrying out campaigns starting with the West Nile region. Cindy (Presidential candidate) Hanson Baliruno (Deputy) and Phina Masanyalaze (Secretary General)
Cindy, who has been the president of the association asked for a second term in office. “I am seeking re-election but this time as the president of the association. Two years were not enough for me to make changes in the industry”, she said.
She mentioned that there are many demands in the sector, therefore it needs people who understand the structures and have lobbying capacity. “I am capable of leading my fellow musicians, not that I am doubting the capability of other musicians but I know that I can”, she said.
Artist in the West Nile musicians cluster however, only asked for the promotion and collaboration of their music and artists.
A few other female artists have not shown active support for the King Herself, notably Sheebah. Sheebah claimed she didn't know Cindy was the leader of the association.
“I personally had no idea who the reigning UMA president is," Sheebah said
“It’s nothing personal, we just need a good change.” She added, at the time she was endorsing Saha.
Jackie Chandiru has had a tough couple of years struggling with mental and physical health due to addiction. The "Gold Digger" singer seems to be prioritising her wellness by staying away from triggering events.
