However, he is now ready to quit the game and move onto doing something new with his life after having spent a life time making movies.
However, before he goes into retirement, he wants to go out on a high with a movie, or two.
He has already shot a film called “What’s My Name?” The film is loosely based on his life and so it makes sense that Van Damme plays himself, as himself.
The action star is excited about going out in blaze of glory, so to speak, by acting as himself instead of the various (some iconic) characters he has portrayed in the past.
“I’m canceling everything to get in shape. After this film, I bought a small boat… I want to go around the world and relax. I worked all my life, I lived all my life in hotels for 30 years. I want to relax and enjoy my life and my family, because life goes by fast,” Van Damme said.
His filmography is diverse and well respected with movies such as “Bloodsport” (1988) “Kickboxer” (1989), “Lionheart” (1990), “Death Warrant” (1990), “Double Impact” (1991), “Universal Soldier” (1992), “Nowhere to run” (1993), “Hard Target” (1993), “Timecop” (1994) “Sudden Death” (1995), “JCVD” (2008) and “The Expendables 2″ (2012).
Timecop was particularly popular, with fans hoping that Van Damme, also known as JCVD, would do a sequel. Unfortunately, his substance abuse and demanding an exorbitant pay for the sequel saw it being shelved. Before he calls it quits, however, rumour has it that he might also star in Timecop 2.
