The news was broken by media personality and TV presenter Douglas Lwanga who said that the singer is not working with new management or hiding in Canada as was largely believed.

“I was told by a credible source that the reason Dre Cali refused to come back to Uganda is that he has a serious medical condition,” Lwanga said.
The former Mpaka Records protégé has also been off social media which has left many with the impression that he abandoned his career in Uganda to start over after abandoning the music label.
Lwanga revealed that this was not the case because the singer has been prioritising his well-being.
“That’s why all his social media pages have been dormant. He is not chilling and relaxing as we thought, he’s battling some sicknesses. I can’t however confirm or refute this,” he added.
Earlier this year, Dre Cali took a French leave to Canada unprovoked and without warning, which left his management and fans bewildered in the silence of his untimely departure. The outraged fans and media critics were quick to fill this void with accusations of new music deals abroad.
The "Singa Omanyi" singer maintained his silence amidst the rants which he apparently wasn't privy to in the wake of what is now revealed to be an illness.
Although most of his social media channels went silent around January, the last post on his Instagram channel is dated April 24, location Canada Vancouver, with a picture of him and former boss Ykee Benda.
