The TV personality said lots of performers have been booked for the event and he shared a few household names during the conversation.

"Maddox [Ssemanda Sematimba], [Pius Mayanja known by his stage name] Pallaso, [Lydia Nabawanuka better known as] Lydia Jazmine, [Frank Mukiiza alias] Feffe Bussi, [Diana Hajara Namukwaya, also know as] Spice Diana," he said on the call.

To spice up the event, Zahara Toto, DJ Roger and Mercy Pro would be disc jockeying.

Mbarara's Reegan Muhaire, aka Ray G, will also perform. He recently partnered with the crooner Levixone to release 'Yoya'.

Lwanga said the event would start at 10 am and people can look forward to a variety of actions, including fireworks displays and the metaverse experience.

Douglas Lwanga started the Purple Party in 2012 while still an upcoming presenter at Record TV. The first event was held at Bull Dog in Wandegeya popular among university students then. Moses Ssali, alias Bebe Cool, and his nemesis Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, who has since moved to politics, performed.

The event has now grown from being held at small indoor clubs around Kampala to a highly-anticipated outdoor event countrywide, with tours in Mbale, Arua, Gulu, Fort Portal and so on.

The show has also created a huge platform for local artistes to promote their talent on top of earning from it. Having it held across the country gives budding singers in those regions a chance to showcase their music and also meet with those they look up to.

All the big artistes have performed at Purple Party tours within and outside of Kampala.
