The 20-year-old graduand completed a certificate in Building Construction at the college which raised eyebrows and questions as to why the comedian did not take him to one of the prestigious institutions. The proud father could only express his joy over witnessing his son come out on top of his class studying something he loves.
Comedian Amooti attends his firstborn's graduation
Ugandan entertainer Amooti Omubalanguzi, real name Allan Mujuni, recently attended his firstborn, Alvin Cole Mugisha's, graduation from Nakawa Vocational Training College.
“I am so happy today that my son has graduated, he was the best in his class and also he did something that he loves," he said
He defended his choice divulging that it is more practical to attend technical school and gain practice in future prospects than spending time learning theories that will not have impact later in life.
"I don’t support the idea of children studying so many things that are not important to them, if the child wants to plumb, take him/her to an institution where they will have hands-on rather than going through the long journey of the theory that won’t help them,” he added.
Mujuni also advised parents to make informed and daring choices for their kids that help them discover practical skills or talents instead of the band-wagon type of theoretical learning they are subjected to.
“Ensure you bring out skills in your children that will help them like my son is a music producer, we have seen Bebe Cool’s son playing football, Chameleon’s kids going for swimming competitions which is a very good thing,” he concluded.
In his opinion, the mentality that learners who attend technical schools are failures does not make sense because according to him they are getting practical knowledge and skills unlike university goers who study theories.
