Standard Chartered Bank and Post Bank boost Eid Al-Fitr celebrations

The fasting period which commenced on 1st April draws to a close on 1st May and banks Standard Chartered and Post Bank have joined the Muslim brotherhood to scale up the celebrations. In line with the month’s theme of reflection and sharing, Standard Chartered Uganda alongside Salaam Charity have donated food items to underprivileged communities as the bank’s efforts to give back during Ramadhan.

The beneficiary communities include Naguru Remand Home, Home of Joy (Salvation Army) located at Katanga, UGANET in Ntinda and UMCA at Mengo.

Under the institution’s pledge “Here for good”, it is devoted to improve the lives in communities, especially the underprivileged children and caretakers.

Margaret Kigozi, the head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing Standard Chartered Bank Uganda commented on the bank’s continued association with the communities.

Ramadan holds a unique position in our community as it is a special time of the year where believers undertake generous deeds. As a bank we believe in the principles this holy month advances and we recognize our responsibility and role to support the communities where we do business. We are therefore committed to supporting various communities by living up to our Brand Promise – Here for good,” she said.

In the same spirit, PostBank has extended donations of goats to their Muslim friends to celebrate Eid. The bank has given over 30 goats ahead of the Eid al-Fitr festival. The donation ceremony was held at the PostBank head office. The Chief Business Officer of Post Bank, Andrew Agaba, congratulated the Muslim community on the completion of the fasting period and fulfilling one of their supreme principles on spiritual reflection and sharing.

It is in the same accord that we are giving to our esteemed customers today. These offerings are a reflection of our oneness with the Muslim community, and we hope that they’ll go a long way in igniting your Eid celebrations this year,” Agaba noted.

What PostBank has done today is an indication that the bank cares for its customers beyond just offering financial services,” Azalwa Hassan, a client applauded the philanthropic gesture.

Agaba further added that the institution would be extending alms to underprivileged Muslim communities at a later date.
