Throughout its original run, my mother watched “Murder, She Wrote” every Sunday night. I was 6 years old in 1984 when it premiered, and by the time I was around 10, I’d developed a love of mysteries and shows like “Matlock” and “Quincy.” Yet I had no interest in detective Jessica “J.B.” Fletcher and her adventures at the time. When my mom turned on “Murder, She Wrote,” I’d leave the room.
